Relais Monaco Country Hotel & Spa

Murphy's law materialized... List of things that went wrong at Relais Monaco... 16 June, room 330 1. No air-conditioning 2. Bathroom door cannot be closed, leading to morning sun light at 5 am shining directly onto my face 3. No chair in the room 4. No tissue paper (3 pieces left) 5. No slippers despite that we asked before by email. We went to the front desk to request them and then they sent one pair for the two of us. 6. Soap bottles almost empty making it quasi impossible to squeeze for soap Next day, l brought the management to my room and then they offered to change it for us. 17 to 19 June, room 318 1. Again no chair in the room. 2. We asked for an iron and an ironing board when we moved from room 330 to 318, but they were not there when we arrived and had to ask the front desk again. 3. Two lights were not working. They came and changed one light bulb. The second one has to wait for the maintenance technician to change on Monday. However on Monday, we were going to checkout. 4. We can hear disco party music from our room after we came back from dinner at 10 pm. We called the front desk who informed us that they have a wedding party and that the music will only stop at 1 am the next morning. Making it impossible to fall aslept before then. 5. The water faucet of the bathtub felt off and felt on my wife's foot. It is made of metal and heavy. It also bruised her right foot. All in, this hotel is absolutely over rated. Relais et Château should send their inspectors to check on the hotel periodically so that it will not spoil the Relais et Château brand name. This hotel was built many years ago and it's in dire need for a full refurbishment.

The hotel is somewhat secluded in a beautiful and quiet area. Fortunately, you get as good as nothing from the traffic here. It is a friendly and well maintained hotel with a very nice and cozy atmosphere. The staff was always nice and friendly, and helped you with any question. Even though communication in English was sometimes not so easy, they always found a way to communicate with each other. When we asked where to eat in the area, we got some good tips that were away from the typical tourist spots. Our week here was a complete success.

We are a bit disappointed. The Hotel is nice, but it is quiet old. Dirty floors in the Hotel and in the rooms, old bathrooms. We ask for a normal Taxi at the reception and they called the Hotel Shuttle Service. A normal Taxi to Venedig Airport costs 45-55€, the Hotel Shuttle Service costs 80€. That‘s not really nice, they should have ask us, if we want the Shuttle Service or a normal Taxi. What a pitty.
